Happy Birthday cake balls

I made these today for my mother in law's birthday, which was last Thursday.  The bottom cake ball has a candle in it.  She hasn't seen them yet, except for maybe on Facebook...but she doesn't know they are for her.  Hope she likes them.  Happy Birthday Mom!!  xoxo

  1. Oh those are adorable!!!! How cute! Your cake balls look so smooth. Any pointers on chocolate/dipping technique? Or is it just that fabulous Guittards (sp?)chocolate you use? :)

  2. Aw, thanks Megan. I do love Guittards! It makes such a difference. I hate using the Wilton melts after I have used those, but I still do use them for colored ones, as I haven't bought any candy colors yet for my chocolate. My #1 tip would be that I use toothpicks to dip my cake balls. I just couldn't get a smooth look by using a spoon so I tried all different methods and that is the one I like best. I also swirl it around as I pull it out and I think that helps get the excess off. :o)
